Treasure Hunting

Writer: Ruth JacksonRuth Jackson

Back in middle school, I met an author who encouraged me to start a journal and write down phrases I read or heard on TV. I probably have a ton at this point. Ever since she suggested this idea, I look back every so often and laugh at the quotes. Some of them struck close to home like when Rosewood said, "The list of things I can't do is a mile long, however, the list of things I can do is a mile longer." Other phrases like, "A woman with curves is like a country road," or "For crying in the sink, Body," just made me crack up.

As a growing writer, I love writing down these phrases because whether or not I actually use them, they make me smile and I realize all over again why I love to write. This is my profession and I'm going to give it all I've got.
