Hello,
a bit about me:
I am a storyteller and have been since the third grade when I created my first imaginative piece. My artistic mind soared with this assignment and I loved every minute of it. This is when I realized the joy in writing stories.
In college, I decided to make my world a little bigger by exploring different types of writing -- for instance, poetry. Back in high school, I thought it was all rhymes and ridiculously hard to understand stanzas, but higher education is where I learned there is so much more! I took a wide variety of writing classes including, Introduction to Creative Writing, Personal Essay, Multi-Literacies, Public Essay, Professional Writing, and Play Writing.
This is a personal and professional passion I am certain will never lose its distinct appeal because I'm dedicated to learning more about and developing my craft any chance I get. This creative outlet never ceases to make me smile when constructing characters that are either from my vast imagination or stem from characteristics of my friends and family. Seeing people I care about read a work of mine, especially when created specifically for them, brings happy tears and deep satisfaction in my heart.
Currently, I'm working on a children's book series featuring characters who are Deaf. While working in the DPS system, I learned that there is a severe lack of diversity in children's books. Not just people of color but also disabilities. I realized that I should and could do something about it.
I hope one day to follow in my favorite authors' footsteps by becoming a New York Times Bestselling Author.
