Just a few minutes ago, I stumbled upon an article about a commercial that had the internet in tears. Naturally, I was curious so I read it and then viewed what I would call a moving clip about family, love and the things that really matter at Christmas time. I don't want to give it all away. Watch it first, then continue reading my post.
In today's society, we tend to be more focused on our jobs and less on our family, especially those who aren't next door. Most of my family is on the East Coast, while I reside in Colorado on my own. My parents are in Connecticut in the same house I grew up in. I never knew how much I would miss them until this past Christmas. I'm glad I still take the time to text my Mom or call my Dad for whatever reason. They played a hand in shaping the young woman I am today so it's only fitting that I give back the time they spent on me.
In this commercial, the grandfather longs to see his family and they promise each year that they will come for Christmas, but they never do. So desperately, he makes a move. My first thought was, "Well, that's mean!" However, the outcome gave him what he always wanted. It ends with the camera panning around the dinning room table as the family laughs enjoying each other's company and the grandfather gets his Christmas wish.
Let's not ever forget our families nor neglect them. Christmas is a time to celebrate one another. Sooner or later, they will not be here on Earth anymore for us to say, "I love you."
