Ever since I landed at the Denver Airport and saw the Rocky Mountains for the first time, I wanted to breathe out with a huge happy sigh. I honestly couldn't believe how beautiful it is out here. Tall, majestic, white topped mountains. I can see how Katherine Lee Bates, the author of 'America the Beautiful,' could write such an amazing, tears-inducing song.
The first few weeks, I couldn't put my camera down. I wouldn't be surprised if the Colorado natives around me just shake their heads at me. They grew up here and I didn't. The so-called mountains back home in Connecticut are NOTHING compared to these western giants. I can honestly see myself here for a long time.
I still remember that dream I had as a kid wanting a ranch in New Mexico with horses, huge fields, mountains, a waterfall running into a lake and, of course, cowboys! As a young adult now, I can honestly see myself getting a ranch, and granted it may take me a bit to get the money--especially in a place like Aspen--but it's a dream I still want to strive for.
